54 years on one street
A bakery that lasts fifty years is not built on celebration cakes. It is built on bread, on rusk, on the packet of khari someone buys on the way home — the everyday trade that never makes it into a photograph.
Chhabra Bakers opened on Kunjpura Road in 1972, opposite what is now the HDFC Bank, and has not moved since. The celebration cakes came from the same counter, for the same families, year after year.
Today the orders arrive three ways — over the counter, on the phone, and through the delivery apps. 17.6K delivery ratings on Zomato say the last one is working. The shop is still exactly where it always was.
